Mayor's Comments:
Mayor Scott Sherman made the following statement regarding the Council action taken at the last meeting regarding the City Manager: "At the October 18 City Council meeting, the Council approved a motion to designate Director of Community Services/Assistant City Manager Chad Ubl to perform the duties of City Manager while that position is vacant. The language of this motion is consistent with specific City Charter language. This was described in the Request for Council Action document that you received for that meeting. Based on this, Chad Ubl is Acting City Manager and performs everything that the City Manager must do under law, Charter, Code, job description, other governing documents and City Council direction. I feel that clarifying this is important for the Council, City staff and the public. Going forward, the Council will need to appoint a regular City Manager. While there is no specific timeline that we must follow to appoint a regular City Manager, I would suggest we do something on this relatively soon, but hold off on doing anything for at least a couple of months so that we can get through this temporary transition, approve the City budget and close out the year. Then we can address this at a future meeting next year. Through our action at the October 18 meeting, we determined that Chad Ubl is properly qualified to perform the duties of City Manager during this transitionary time. I am confident that the City will continue to run efficiently and effectively with him taking on these duties."
Mayor Sherman read a proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month. He also reported that he participated in the clean up at the ice park site, and thanked the Recreation Alliance for their help removing invasive weeds on the bluffside.
